Martindale's PD690 is a 700AC proving unit and is designed to allow users to quickly evaluate that voltage indication devices are functioning correctly and are therefore completely safe for use.
It is recommended that the PD690 is used both before and after testing procedures to maintain the safety of testing products, as a wide variety of effects can adjust the tester's capabilities and thus stop it from generating correct results. When working with live voltages gaining incorrect results can be extremely hazardous, so proving units should be used regularly with voltage testers.
The PD690 is designed for use with voltage indicators with 230V, 415 and 440V AC detection ranges (such as the Martindale VI13700) and this proving unit can also be used to evaluate the status of Drummond/other testing lamps.
